Sometimes, a change in the individual’s career path or just getting started in the career the individual has wanted can be challenging and downright unattainable. However, if the individual is looking to become a nurse practitioner, there is an easy, online approach they can take in order to reach their goal of a successful and rewarding career. Through the online course, an individual can learn on their own time at their own pace, whenever and wherever they choose to do so.
A home study package is a great way to getting a nurse practitioner certification. The package typically includes all of the course material including a course manual as well as a set of audio CDs. This allows the individual to study the course contents while they are: commuting to their current job, at the gym working out, working around the house, or outside taking a walk. The audio recordings on the CDs can also be transferred to the individual’s iPod for ease of use and to ensure that the individual isn’t required to have a computer around at all times for studying purposes. The package is also available for several different nurse practitioner vocations.
The family nurse practitioner (FNP) program has 22 hours of material for the individual to study and includes 9.5 hours of pharmacology and three hours of gerontology readings in the course manual as well as on the 16 audio CDs in the package. Likewise, the gerontology primary care nurse (AGPCNP) has 14 hours of material including 5.25 hours of pharmacology and three hours of gerontology in the manual and on the 9 audio CDs. The last course package to include gerontology is the gerontology acute care nurse (AGACNP), which has 14 hours of material that includes 6.25 hours of pharmacology and three hours of gerontology in the manual and on the audio CDs. The remaining three courses focus on children’s health, women’s health, and psychiatric health.
The pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) course package focuses on the health of children and has 9 hours of course material that includes 3.5 hours of pharmacology in the manual and on the 7 audio CDs. Similarly, the women’s health nurse focuses on both women’s and young children’s health; the package has 11.25 hours of material which including 5 hours of pharmacology in the manual as well as on the audio CDs. These two courses are closely related in their course materials allowing the individual the opportunity to choose whether they want to focus solely on children or expectant mothers and mothers with young children. Unlike these courses, the psychiatric mental health nurse focuses on the mental health of a patient though it includes a similar study load; the course is made of up 11.25 hours of material including 5 hours of pharmacology in the manual and on the audio CDs. The different nurse practitioner vocations allow the individual to not only choose the best career path suited to them, but also allows for an easy and accessible method to attain that career. Suddenly, changing or starting a career is that much easier.
